This year’s CTIA wireless show in Orlando, March 22-24, proved there is truly something for everyone when it comes to mobility.  As for the official count, over 40,000 attendees from 125 countries viewed the latest products and services from more than 1,000 exhibitors.

Wireless operators took front mention as keynote speakers.  AT&T’s acquisition of T-mobile was top of everyone’s mind and upon questioning AT&T’s Ralph de la Vega, he advocated the decision since it will provide more spectrum, better national coverage, and accelerates 4G rollout.  Of particular interest was new entrant, LightSquared, whose objective is to provide high capacity, low latency 4G backbone networks for wholesale to business partners, which would include MVNOs and potentially Content Delivery Networks.  Given the tension between CDNs and mobile operators it seems there is indeed a business for LightSquared.  Read the rest of this entry »
